According to recent reports, at least 80% of the students who took the Uganda Advanced Certificate OF Education UACE 2023 examinations at St. Leo’s College Kyegobe (SLECK) in Fort Portal City have met the criteria for admission into university degree programs.
Mr. Trophy Atuhairwe, the head teacher of SLECK, noted that out of the 38 students who sat the exams in both Sciences and Arts classes, 15 achieved 3 principal passes, 11 attained 2 principal passes, and 5 secured 1 principal pass, while 7 students obtained subsidiary passes.
Mr. Trophy, who commended the students for their dedication and pursuit of excellence, attributed their success to committed teachers, student research, parental support, prayers from the Bishop and religious community of Fort Portal Diocese, Old boys association and conducive learning environment.
Encouraging the S.6 Vacation students to maintain their excellence at higher institutions, Mr. Trophy advised them to choose courses aligned with their talents so as to compete favorably in the current job market.
Nathan Alituha, one of the successful students from SLECK, expressed gratitude to the school for enabling him to achieve his dream of becoming a doctor, attributing part of his success to the support of the St. Leo’s College old boys association.
During the release of the UACE 2023 results last week, Mr. Daniel Odong, the executive director of UNEB, highlighted that out of the 110,553 learners who sat the exams, 80,543 individuals, equivalent to 73%, were eligible for university admissions.
This demonstrates a notable improvement in performance and eligibility for higher education opportunities.
