Uganda Cranes remained in 77th position in the latest FIFA World Rankings released on Thursday, September 17, 2020.

The Ranking is a system for men’s national teams in association football – The countries are ranked based on their game results with the most successful teams being ranked highest.

The Uganda Cranes have collected 1321 points, the same total to that when the last edition were released in March.

The non-movement can be justified by the fact that Uganda Cranes, ranked 15th in Africa, has not been in action since, due to Lockdown.

Senegal (20), Tunisia (26) and Nigeria (29) are ranked highest on the African continent in that order, while Belgium and France are first and second respectively in the world.

Uganda’s opponents in Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers Burkina Faso are 59th while Malawi and South Sudan are ranked 123rd and 168th respectively.

The team’s opponents in the FIFA Wold Cup Qualifiers Mali are 57th, Kenya are 106 while Rwanda slipped to 132nd.

In CHAN, Uganda Cranes are grouped alongside Morocco, Togo and Rwanda. Morocco are 43rd while Togo are 126th.

The Next FIFA Rankings will be released in  October 22, 2020.

CAF recently said announced that the AFCON Qualifiers will resume on November 9-17 2020, with Uganda facing South Sudan Home and Away.

The World Cup Qualifiers match-day one games will be played between May 31 and June 15 next year.

CHAN will be played from January 16 to February 7, 2021 in Cameroon.
