About the operation Shujja
On December 30, 2021, the Congolese army [FARDC] together with UPDF launched joint Operation Shujaa in Beni territory of the DRC against the ADF, an armed group from Uganda that has been operating in the DRC since the mid-1990s, causing havoc as well as killing innocent people both in eastern DRC and western Uganda.
Relevant to this, Maj Gen.Olum has challenged ‘men in uniform’ to love their job, saying that it is their calling to serve people .
F/P Mayor Wants peaceful transition of power
Edson Asaba Ruyonga, the mayor for Fort Portal city, on the same function asked for the smooth transition of power within the NRM government.
Ruyonga, stated that Uganda should borrow a leaf from Tanzania which has had the Kyamapenduzi party since the time of Nyerere, but different people have ruled in the government within the same party.
Asaba however observes that the same is possible and can be done in Uganda only if powerful transition takes place.
