Fort Portal city, became operational in July 2020, with annexation of some sub counties from Kabarole district to the former Fort Portal municipality but since then, there has been a human resource gap, as many positions were left vacant and staff in acting responsibilities.

Fort Portal city town clerk, Moses Otimong, says that the team will be going through files of the available employees.
He notes that and at the end of validation exercise, the validated employees who will have been maintained, will be appointed as substantive staff before advertising the remaining positions to the public.
Otimong, added that the city has already received 2billion shillings from the government, to facilitate recruitment exercises.
He cautioned employees who forge papers to be promoted, to stand warned, adding that what is most important is to fight to be maintained as staff instead of forgery that may lead to dismissal.
Patrick Rwebembera Adyeri, the chair person Fort Portal city service commission asked the town clerk to send them properly sieved files to ease their work and vowed not to entertain any form of corruption but rather to appoint workers purely on merit
