Woman detained at Fort-portal police on suspicion of stealing child.
Police in Fort-portal have arrested a woman suspected to have stolen a five month old baby girl. She was grabbed from Global Lodge Mpanga along Kampala road on Tuesday morning.
According to police, employees at the residence developed suspicion after the woman failed to calm down a baby that spent the entire night crying wildly. She has been identified as Nalugo Pauline resident of Kasambya in Mubende district.
Vincent Twesige the Police Spokesperson Rwenzori West said that police swung into action arrested the woman for interrogation and if found guilty will be charged with offences of stealing a child.
During interrogation at Fort-portal Central Police Station the Woman couldn’t account for the baby except broke down in tears. She couldn’t explain the name of the child, father and what she came to do in Fort-portal.
Twesige told reporters that the child seem to be malnourished and therefore will first be taken to hospital for urgent medication before proceeding with the case.
