The Omukama of Tooro, HRH Edward Rukidi Nyabongo the First, has called for a mutual working relationship between the Kingdom and the Muslim community.
He made the call yesterday during Juma prayers at Kabarole Main Mosque in Fort Portal City. The Omukama said unity and cooperation between the Kingdom and Muslims is key to peace and development.
Nyabongo, also encouraged parents to nurture their children, especially adolescents, in the traditions and history of Tooro, and pledged to work with the people on environmental conservation and education, among other areas.
Preaching to hundreds of Muslims at the prayers, the Tooro Muslim District Khadi, Sheikh Abdul Karim Hakim, called for mutual loyalty and a good relationship between the Kingdom and Muslims.
He said religions cannot achieve development without the Kingdom, and commended it for supporting Muslims through education and land settlement.
He also asked the King to consider Muslims when appointing the new cabinet.
Meanwhile, the Kingdom Premier, Owek Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire, said he will soon unveil the Kingdom’s strategic plan to guide its running. He asked the people of Tooro to embrace it for the future of the Kingdom.
