Pope Leo the Fourteenth has called for greater protection of marriage and family life, saying genuine marital love goes beyond physical attraction to include fidelity, mutual sacrifice and lifelong commitment.
Speaking during his first weekly general audience since undergoing lung surgery, the Pope said the responsibility to protect marriage and family life is more urgent than ever.
He also emphasized the equal dignity of husbands and wives, responsible parenthood, and the importance of raising children in accordance with Christian values.
