The Bishop of Fort Portal Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Robert K. Muhiirwa Akiiki, has commended Jubilee Radio for its outstanding contribution to evangelization and socio-economic development over the past twelve years.
Speaking over the weekend during a thanksgiving crusade at Bukwali Catholic Parish in Fort Portal City to mark the station’s 12th anniversary, Bishop Muhiirwa praised the diocesan radio, established in 2014, for its vital role in educating, informing, and entertaining the public, while most importantly nurturing the spiritual lives of its listeners through evangelization.
Family impact
Reflecting on the station’s slogan, “The Joy of the Family,” the Bishop highlighted the impact of its family-focused programmes, noting that they have greatly contributed to promoting strong Christian values and responsible parenting. He made a special appeal to men to be more present and active in their families, fulfilling their responsibilities to ensure true joy within their families.
The Bishop cautioned against selfish tendencies among some men, particularly the misuse of family resources in places such as bars and pork joints while their families lack basic needs.
He further encouraged the faithful to actively participate in family-based church movements such as the Catholic Men Association and the Catholic Women Association, to strengthen their understanding of positive parenting and family life.
Staff reminded
Bishop Muhiirwa also urged the staff of Jubilee Radio to remain focused on the mission of evangelization, continuing to promote truth and unity in the face of growing misinformation and divisive messages in today’s fast-paced media environment.
He encouraged Believers to follow the Standard operating procedures to prevent the spread of deadly Ebola disease and follow up on the advice from the ministry of health.
