The Fort Portal Catholic Diocese has officially announced the banns of ordination for candidates preparing to receive Holy Orders in 2026.
The announcement, released from the Bishop’s Office on 8th June 2026, confirms that the ordination ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 1 at Virika Cathedral.
Priests to be
According to the communication, the six deacons will be elevated to the order of priesthood including Dn Ajuna Onesmus from Kanyamukale, Dn Mugisa Wilfred from Wekomiire, Dn.Tumwebaze Tom from Butunduzi, Dn.Tukahiirwa Ronald from Kitagwenda, Dn Binta Alexandria Mzee, from Yerya and Dn.Tushabe Derrick from Kahunge.
The Deacons to be
During the same celebration, four seminarians including Musiime Vincent from Katoosa, Kaijuka Simon Peter from Iboroga, Kayonga Henry from Yerya , and Kato Robert from Katoosa will be elevated into Diaconate.
In the letter, the Bishop of Fort Portal, Robert K. Muhiirwa, has called upon all clergy, religious, and lay faithful to keep these candidates so that they be strengthened to serve God and His people with faithfulness and dedication.
The Bishop also reminded the faithful of their responsibility, in accordance with Church law, to report any known impediments that may hinder any of the candidates from receiving Holy Orders advising them to forward such matters to the attention of parish priests or the Bishop’s office in time.
Parish priests across the diocese have further been instructed to publicly announce the names of the candidates in their respective parishes so that the Christian community is fully informed ahead of the ordination.
