Over seven house rentals have been closed due to poor sanitation in Kibiito town council Bunyangabu district.
The operation was conducted today morning by the town council officials and local council one chairperson of Kibiito Central Cell.
Speaking to the press after the operations, Kemba Christopher the health Inspector of Kibiito town council narrated that, they gave landlords warning letters to construct standard latrines but they did not respond.
He also added that, they have been receiving complaints from the community that people use open defecation in Kibiito Town which may result to the outbreak sanitary diseases like cholera.
Christopher warned tenants to avoid renting houses which that don’t have latrines, adding that they will start arresting tenants instead of land loads because they supposed to check sanitation of the place before they rent.
The district chairperson for Bunyangabu district Mr. Peter Musinguzi said, as the district leadership planning to elevate Kibiito Town Council into Municipality status, they should be ready through constructing standard buildings with good latrines as its consideration to be elevated.
He also urged residents in Kibiito Town to allow government authorities to make streets in their lands as the as the way to develop Kibiito Town council.
