The Catholic Church has today held a special prayer for the Queen Mother, Yusta Asiimwe Kijanangoma, as she prepares to head to the Palace as mother to Omukama Edward Rukidi Nyabongo the First.
The prayer was said during the 10 a.m. Mass at Virika Cathedral, led by the Parish Priest, Fr. Titus Winyi Abwooli, who asked for God’s guidance and protection to the new Queen Mother ahead of the new role in her advanced age.
He encouraged the congregation to join the queen mother in the procession to the palace, entrusting her to the intercession of Mother Mary.
Christians urged to be good to each other
Speaking earlier during the Mass, Fr. Winyi referred to today’s readings and asked Christians to live good Christian lives that support peaceful coexistence, and to always repent, just as Christ reminded the Pharisees.
He also raised concern about the growing rate of absenteeism from Church activities, saying some Christians intentionally skip honoring the Lord’s Day, citing other engagements, yet still claim to be strong Christians.
Fr. Winyi further asked the faithful to be generous, support Church activities, and share their belongings with the needy in humility.
