Over a thousand people from within and outside Tooro have benefited from a two-day free medical camp organized by the Tooro Kingdom ahead of tomorrow’s Coronation anniversary.
The camp which started on sunday at Mucwa at the Kingdom headquarters closed today, attracting a huge turn up of people seeking various health services.
Impactful camp
Speaking to our reporter today during the closing of the camp, Mr. Joshua Bazz from the Red Cross said the camp screened and treated several diseases including cervical cancer, syphilis, HIV and malaria among others.He said the camp also involved a blood donation exercise, aimed at boosting blood banks to help patients in hospitals, especially pregnant mothers, accident victims and others in need .
One of the beneficiaries, Gideon Mwesige, appreciated the Tooro Kingdom for organizing the free health services, saying he was screened and treated for different diseases and also donated blood to help save lives in hospitals.
The medical camp is part of the activities lined up to mark the Coronation anniversary of the Omukama of Tooro, His Majesty Edward Rukidi Nyabongo the First, which will be celebrated tomorrow, Tuesday.
