Former Ruwenzori Diocesan Head of Laity, Tushabe Chris Karobwa, has criticised the way the “Name and Shame” anti-corruption campaign is being run in schools by Local Government Minister Balaam Barugahara.
Speaking in Iruhura Village, Kasenda Sub-county, Kabarole District, Tushabe said the campaign is being conducted like a crusade and will yield little without serious follow-up investigations. He said he supports the fight against corruption but wants thorough investigations before individuals or institutions are publicly accused.
He also opposed the proposed ban on PTA fees in government schools, warning it could hurt the quality of education, especially for children from poor families who depend on better school standards.
Tushabe further urged church leaders to engage government on church-founded, government-aided schools rather than abandon them.
