All is set for tomorrow’s historic coronation of Prince Edward Rukidi Nyabongo the First as the new King of Tooro, with thousands of people expected at the palace.
Speaking to Jubilee Radio, the Kingdom’s head of protocol, Dr Richard Rwabuhinga, said preparations are complete. According to him, The public should start arriving at half past seven in the morning, followed by VIPs at eight and invited guests at quarter past eight. The Vice President, the Speaker of Parliament, ministers and diplomats are expected at half past eight.

At quarter to nine, the King will leave for St John’s Cathedral for a special blessing, a long-standing Tooro tradition. The church service runs from nine to half past ten.
He will then return to the palace at quarter to eleven to receive the President, followed by the national and Kingdom anthems. Dr Rwabuhinga said this will be the first time the Kingdom anthem is sung since the death of Omukama Oyo on August 27th.
After the speeches, the King will be crowned, then proceed to Mucwa for a traditional ritual with the princesses.
Dr Rwabuhinga has urged the public to turn up in large numbers, saying food has been prepared for up to 50,000 people.
