Christians have been urged to reject sin and strive for purity by doing God’s will, especially during this Holy Week.
The call was made today by Bishop Robert K. Muhiirwa Akiiki of Fort Portal Diocese while addressing the press at the Bishop’s residence in Kijanju, Fort Portal City, as he shared his Easter message.
Bishop Muhiirwa explained that Christ’s death was not ordinary, noting that the events surrounding it from His passion to the denial by His apostle Peter highlight a powerful message of forgiveness. He said this calls on Christians to always trust in God.
He also encouraged the faithful to embrace the spirit of a synodal Church, one that walks together in unity but first deny nurturing personal relationships with Christ.
Referring to the recently concluded elections, the Bishop called for reconciliation among citizens who may have hurt one another. He urged those who lost to remain courageous and encouraged continued prayer for justice in Uganda.
He further condemned domestic violence, hatred, and jealousy, calling on Christians to promote peace, forgiveness, and unity, and to allow the joy of Easter to fill their hearts.
