The Catholic Diocese of Fort Portal has revealed that the late Fr Jacent Uw’Imana, who passed on yesterday will be buried in Rwanda, with the date to be communicated later.
In a document released this afternoon, the Bishop of Fort Portal, Rt. Rev. Robert K. Muhiirwa, informed archbishops, bishops, clergy, religious, government leaders, relatives and the faithful that the priest died on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at Kigali Teaching Hospital.
The notice, signed by Diocesan Chancellor Rev. Fr. John K. Tumuhairwe, says a requiem Mass will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 11:00am at Virika Cathedral in Fort Portal.
The burial of Fr Uw’Imana whose last appointment was at Yerya parish as curate and Chaplain Yerya Novitiate, unlike the norm where deceased Diocesan priests are laid to rest at St John Mary Vianney Cemetery Kijanju Virika, will be held far from the Diocese for once in some good years.
Christians have been urged to pray for his peaceful repose .
