Police in Kyegegwa District have launched investigations into a suspected attempted murder after unknown assailants attacked a family in Bulingo B Village, Kyegegwa Sub-county, in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to police, the attackers reportedly broke into the home of Ronald Bigaruraho, 37, at around 4:00 a.m. and assaulted him, his wife Elizabeth Kansime, 35, and their daughters, Immaculate Kabajulizi, 18, and Juliet Kembabazi, 8, leaving them with severe head and facial injuries.
Police say the couple’s 12-year-old son, Joseph Kusima, escaped the attack and raised an alarm, prompting neighbors to alert local authorities and the police.
Officers visited and documented the scene, where they recovered an axe believed to have been used in the attack, along with other exhibits for DNA analysis. A police canine unit was deployed, but investigators said the scene had already been contaminated.
All four victims are receiving treatment at Mubende Regional Referral Hospital. Police have registered a case of attempted murder and are investigating the motive behind the attack as efforts to identify and arrest the suspects continue.
