Mountains of the Moon University (MMU) hotly contested guild presidential race is gaining momentum after two aspirating candidates participated tussled it out during an open debate organized by the university electro commission ahead of general elections slated for Thursday this week
Murungi Michael from the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences and Kato Perepetua from the facility of health sciences faced off in an open debate on Tuesday at Lake Saka main compass in Fort portal City with each presenting their vision for student leadership, welfare, accountability and improved service delivery.

Murungi Michael asked students from all the Faculties which include, faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, faculty of health sciences and the faculty of Science, Technology and Innovation vote for him as 20th guild president of MMU, pledging to advocate for students welfare, tuition policies, and unity amongst students
Kato Pereputua pledged to focus on accountability, student driven policies and students welfare
Kagoro Enork the Chairperson Electoral Commission of MMU University said the guild presidential debate helps students to evaluate candidates before making a decision on voting day. He added that the debate provided a platform for each candidate to present their vision, policy priorities and proposed solutions to issues affecting students
Kagoro says that Guild/student elections will for the first time be held digitally online with students using their phones and computers to cast their ballots starting 8am – 5pm on Thursday
