There was joy at the Bishop’s Residence in Fort Portal City as three priests of Fort Portal Catholic Diocese marked 25 years in the priesthood.
The jubilarians are Reverend Father John K. Tumuhairwe, Reverend Father John Baptist Mwesige, and Reverend Father Doctor Emmanuel Byaruhanga Kakaaga, in absentia. The celebrations were marked with a Thanksgiving Mass at the Bishop’s Residence, bringing together Christians and fellow clergy.
In his homily, Rev.Fr.Charles Light Nyarwa congratulated the jubilarians, describing priesthood as a gift from God and to God’s people. He urged them to remember their vocation as a call from God, who will continue to guide them despite the challenges of the past 25 years.
Fr. Nyarwa said the three priests have been a blessing to Christians throughout their years of service, and that God has remained faithful to them.
He encouraged the jubilarians to use the celebration to reflect on how far God has brought them, and called on Christians to continue supporting and praying for priests in their pastoral work.
Re .Fr.John K. Tumuhairwe Abooki thanked God for his call to priesthood and Bishop Paul Kalanda, now deceased, for ordaining him. He also commended Bishop Muhiirwa and other bishops, priests and Christians for their support, and thanked his parents for raising him in the faith that grew into his vocation.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Byaruhanga Kakaaga Emmanuel thanked God for the people, friendships and support he has received over 25 years of service, saying he also faced misunderstandings, conflicts, disappointments and at times hostility but God has led them through.
Bishop Muhiirwa, in his message, appreciated the priests’ service to God and His people across parishes, formation houses, schools, lay apostolate movements and other areas of pastoral ministry
