The coronation and royal entrance of King Edward Rukidi Nyabongo the First today has attracted thousands of people to Karuzika Palace as the people of Tooro showcased and preserved their rich culture.
The day-long event started with tight security and roadblocks mounted on different roads heading to the palace.
.At around 9:00 AM, the newly crowned King Edward Rukidi Nyabongo the First left Karuzika Palace for St. John’s Cathedral for a blessing service. After the service, His Majesty made a glorious royal entrance back to Karuzika, escorted by the royal family and cultural leaders
During his royal entrance, the Omukama passed through the Mugabante Gate, symbolizing the King’s responsibility, new leadership, and assumption of all roles of the kingdom.
Speaking as the chief guest, the President of the Republic of Uganda, His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, honoured the late King for preserving culture and promoting development in Tooro.President Museveni thanked the new King for serving the nation, recalling how he used to watch him anchor news on television.
He urged Kingdom officials to champion the mother language and development of culture
