The Fort Portal City Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Linda Irene Mugisa, has commended Catholic priests for their role in the country’s socioeconomic transformation.
She was speaking yesterday at the Silver Jubilee anniversary Mass and luncheon, organized by Bishop Muhiirwa in honour of Reverend Father John Baptist Mwesige Adyeri, Father John K. Tumuhairwe Abboki, and Father Emmanuel Byaruhanga Kakaaga in absentia, all marking twenty-five years in the priesthood.
Speaking on behalf of the area’s political leaders, Hon. Linda congratulated the trio, saying that priests, through their different ministries, support government efforts in nation-building.
She also raised concern over the growing misuse of Artificial Intelligence in spreading fake news, urging the congregation to reflect on whether their use of AI truly gives glory to God. She further tasked parents to guide their children on the responsible use of the technology.
Hon. Linda, was in the company of Honourable Joseph Mugenyi Ateenyi, MP for Burahya County, and Honourable Ronald Muhenda Omusoromi, MP for Fort Portal Central.
On behalf of the team, she handed over a contribution of one million shillings towards the Jubilarians.
