Rt Rev Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire has been installed and consecrated as the fifth Bishop of Kabale Diocese.
The ceremony took place at St Ignatius University-Kabale, attended by the faithful, clergy, government officials and other guests. Bishop Callist Rubaramira, who has presided over as the main Consecrator, has also officially retired as the Bishop of Kabale after more than two decades leading the diocese and is now Bishop Emeritus.
Rubaramira handed the ring, mitre and crozier, the symbols of the episcopal office to the New Bishop.
Call for unity
In his homily, Bishop Callist urged the new bishop to see his appointment as a call to service, not an honour, and to give special attention to the poor, the weak and strangers.

As part of his commitment during Mass, Gubazire pledged to proclaim the Gospel, serve as a father to the faithful and remain united with the successor of St Peter.
Rubaramira, who called on Christian Community, clergy and religious in Kabale to cooperate with the new Bishop, leaves behind 989,100 Catholics, 43 parishes, 162 priests, 276 sisters, 916 catechists and 86 major seminarians.
The installation comes as the diocese marks 60 years since its founding in 1966 and the Finance Minister Henry Musasizi represented President Museveni as guest of honour.
