Over 100 Fort Portal diocesan priests, together with their bishop, Robert K. Muhiirwa have over the weekend concluded their annual retreat at St. Paul’s National Seminary with a call to foster holiness in their priestly ministries. The bishop at the closing Mass encouraged the priests to make resolutions that will guide them in fulfilling the learnt, unlearnt, and relearned lessons.
Fr Joseph Sserunjogi, the Rector St Mbaaga’s National Seminary facilitated the retreat with a theme ‘Building my Priestly House’ and emphasized the need for priests to invest wholly in faith and also expounded on the various pillars required of an exemplary minister.
Fr John Mary Makanda the Vicar for Clergy and religious in the Diocese, who doubled as the coordinator for the retreat , described the facilitator as the best preacher, confessing that this year’s retreat was the most highly attended ever with 103 participants.
Speaking at the Closure Mass today, Bishop Muhiirwa who entrusted his priests to the protection and love of the Sacred Heart, encouraged them to consecrate their daily lives and ministries to the devotion.
He further re-echoed St. Mother Teresa’s call to priests of always spending at least a quiet hour with the Lord in adoration for a successful ministry.
The bishop encouraged the men of God to apply the lessons learned during their week of spiritual renewal to their daily lives and ministry.
