Fort Portal City has conducted a one-day training on the Education Management Information System, bringing together headteachers and teachers from both government and private primary schools in the North and Central divisions.
The training which was held yesterday at Butebe primary school, focused on equipping school leaders with skills to accurately capture, update, and manage learners’ data in line with requirements of the Ministry of Education and Sports. Participants were guided on proper data entry, timely updates, and the importance of maintaining reliable school records for effective planning and service delivery.
A key highlight of the training was a session on identifying learners with special needs. The session, facilitated by Inspector Jassy Komuhendo, emphasized early detection and proper documentation to support inclusive education in schools.
Closing the training, the Fort Portal City Education Officer, Mr. Tumwisigye John Bosco, urged all schools to consistently update learners’ information in the system. He also reminded private schools to strictly follow the official school calendar, noting that the closing date should not be earlier than 1st May 2026.
