Kabarole District Chairperson Kimome Ruben Araali Makubebe has commended the progress of construction works on the fourth phase of the Kabarole District headquarters in Busoro Town Council, pledging the district leadership’s continued support towards the successful completion of the project.
Kimome made the remarks during a monitoring visit to the construction site on Friday, where he assessed the ongoing works and expressed appreciation for the progress registered so far.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the project, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that the construction works are completed to the required standards to provide a conducive working environment for district staff and improve service delivery.
The fourth phase of the district headquarters project is valued at approximately 982 million Uganda shillings.
Kabarole Chief Administrative Officer Stephen Rubaihayo also inspected the ongoing works, commending the progress made while cautioning the contractor and other stakeholders against compromising the quality of the project.
Rubaihayo called for a swift and responsive approach to addressing issues that may arise during construction, stressing that the district cannot afford to mishandle a project of such importance and financial value.
He emphasized the need for transparency, accountability and adherence to the required construction standards, noting that proper supervision and coordination among the stakeholders are essential for the successful implementation of the project.
The CAO further urged the contractor to employ local residents for suitable tasks arising from the construction works, saying the project should also provide employment opportunities to people within the surrounding communities.
He stressed that involving local workers would enable residents to benefit economically from the government investment while contributing to the development of their area.
Meanwhile, the site clerk of works, Engineer Kenneth Mugenyi, is among the personnel involved in overseeing the construction works to ensure that the project meets the required standards.
Mugenyi reported that activities undertaken so far include site clearance and site corrections intended to align the construction works with the required standards and technical specifications.
The monitoring visit is part of the district leadership’s oversight of the project to assess progress, identify areas requiring attention and ensure that public resources are put to proper use.
The fourth phase of the headquarters construction is expected to contribute to improving the district’s administrative infrastructure, providing better working facilities for technical and political leaders and supporting the delivery of services to residents of Kabarole District.
District officials have emphasized the need for continued supervision, transparency and quality workmanship as construction progresses.
