President Yoweri Museveni has commended the Bishop Emeritus of Kabale Diocese for partnering with government to promote development and improve livelihoods.
In a written message yesterday delivered by Finance Minister Henry Musasizi at the consecration and installation of Bishop Bonaventure Gubazire, Mr. Museveni urged the church to strengthen its role in wealth creation and skills development, especially among young people, to tackle unemployment and raise household incomes.
He encouraged the new bishop to spread the gospel of prosperity, and called on the church to set up more economic projects that can support its work and uplift communities. The President also gifted Bishop Gubazire a brand-new Land Cruiser for his pastoral work, presented by Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa.
Minister Musasizi, on his part congratulated the bishop and urged him to embrace his duty of serving God’s people. He asked him to use his two decades of experience abroad as a missionary to transform Kabale Diocese spiritually, economically and socially,pledging government’s continued collaboration.
Bishop Gubazire, a member of the Missionaries of Africa, is the fifth bishop of Kabale Diocese. Pope Leo XIV appointed him, and the Nunciature in Uganda announced the appointment on July 15.
