Young mothers in Kicwamba Sub-county in Kabarole district have hailed the Nest of care, a consortium with funding from Children’s Rights and violence prevention Fund, for transforming their lives through poverty eradication.
This was during a community meeting where ladies shared their success stories on how the Nest of Care project has transformed their lives held in Kenjwenge and Kagog villages in Kicwamba sub county.
Beneficiaries testify
The beneficiaries who testified that the project has created a free and safe space for them to share their challenges, formed savings groups that have helped them fight poverty, and supported them in child upbringing.
Kebirungi Margaret the mentor for the Excel girls for Kagogo has stated that the initiative has transformed many young girls who dropped out of school where the majority have managed to pay fees for their children, improved on their household income among others.
Leaders appreciate
The former chairperson for Kagogo Asiimwe Christopher has also commended the leadership of nest of care for transforming the lives of their girls stating that this has helped the community to have a peaceful and transformed society where there has been a decrease in domestic violence in homes.
Muhumuza Michael the representative from Nest of care has disclosed that, Nest of Care is a community-focused initiative operating in Kicwamba and Mugusu that focuses on child protection and the eradication of Gender-Based Violence among children and young women aged 18 to 24, with the objective of fostering a violence-free environment.
He has added that in Kicwamba sub county 20 groups have benefited from the initiative.
