The Minister for local government Balaam Barugahara, has over the wee,kend launched the newly beautified Mpanga Market in Fort Portal City, commending MTN Uganda for funding the facelift works.
According to Mildred Nsinda the Trade marketing manager at MTN Uganda, the beautification works done by MTN included painting the market, installation of surveillance camera, installation of the community radio to speak with the vendors, installation of Tri visual screens, installation of wi-fi among others and branding of the market was to give it a cleaner and more organized look.
Joseph Bogere the general manager for sales and distribution at MTN donated dustbin to Mpanga market management to enable the facility to promote sanitation and hygiene in terms of waste management
Speaking at the launch, Minister Balaam praised MTN for supporting government efforts to promote sanitation and order in public markets.
He urged market vendors to take ownership of the facility and maintain cleanliness, saying the government cannot beautify markets every day.
